Device tracking via exposed Bluetooth MAC address
Published Aug 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Bluetooth in Apple macOS Monterey before 12.1 allows physically proximate attackers to track a device by its MAC address. Apple identifies the locus only as Bluetooth device configuration and has not disclosed which setting causes the MAC address to remain observable. Exploitation requires Bluetooth-radio proximity and yields passive device correlation rather than data modification or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
