Gatekeeper bypass via undisclosed LaunchServices state flaw
Published Aug 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Gatekeeper bypass in Apple macOS Catalina, Big Sur before 11.6.2, and Monterey before 12.1 allows local users to run malicious apps. Apple identifies faulty LaunchServices state management but has not published the wrong operation or attacker-controlled input. Exploitation requires a user to launch the malicious application, which can then evade Gatekeeper's trust checks.
