Lock-screen contact disclosure via incorrect permissions logic
Published Aug 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authorization bypass in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 15.2 allows physically proximate attackers to access contacts from the lock screen. The Notes lock-screen path applies incorrect permissions logic to contact access, but Apple has not disclosed the responsible function or request flow. Physical possession of an unlocked-display device is required, and the documented consequence is limited to viewing contacts.
