Local code execution via Continuity Camera format string
Published Aug 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Uncontrolled format string in Apple iOS, iPadOS, and macOS before fixed releases allows local attackers to execute code or terminate applications. Continuity Camera processes attacker-controlled formatting input without adequate validation, enabling malformed format directives to corrupt memory or terminate the handling application. A local attacker must run on the device; the resulting impact ranges from unexpected application termination to arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
