Race condition in the macOS kernel allows local users to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges on vulnerable Big Sur and Catalina systems. Apple identifies the kernel as the locus and says improved locking closes the race, but it has not published the shared resource or code path that was improperly synchronized. Execution of a malicious application is required, after which attacker-controlled code runs with kernel privileges and can compromise the operating system.
