Service interruption via Model I/O out-of-bounds write
Published Sep 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Apple Model I/O on affected iOS and macOS releases allows attackers to interrupt image-processing services. The USD parser writes crafted file data past the end of an allocated data structure instead of rejecting the malformed input. Exploitation requires a process to open the image, and Apple documents the consequence as a denial-of-service interruption.
