Lock-screen information disclosure via insufficient permissions
Published Sep 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Apple MediaRemote before iOS and iPadOS 14.6 and macOS 11.4 allows local users to view Now Playing data. MediaRemote exposes Now Playing information on the lock screen because its privacy permissions do not adequately restrict access. Exploitation requires local access to a locked device or Mac with Now Playing information present, and the documented consequence is disclosure of that information only.
