Privacy-control bypass via automatic Notes attachments
Published Sep 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Sandbox authorization bypass in Apple macOS before 11.4 allows local users to read privacy-protected files through a malicious application. The application can ask Notes to open protected files, and Notes automatically attaches their contents into storage lacking the source files' privacy protections. Execution of a malicious application and user interaction are required; the consequence is read access to files covered by affected Privacy preferences.
