CVE-2021-30656Public exploit

Kernel layout disclosure via returned object pointer

Published Sep 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 14.5 allows local users to determine kernel memory layout via a malicious application. AGXDeviceUserClient::performanceCounterSamplerControl writes a kernel object pointer into its input buffer, then copies that buffer to userspace. A sandboxed application can reach the IOGPU user client, and the disclosed pointer reveals the kernel slide for further exploitation.
