Renderer code execution via unchecked WebAssembly object cast
Published Aug 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Type confusion in V8 in Google Chrome before 91.0.4472.164 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory via a crafted HTML page. WasmJs::InstallConditionalFeatures casts the WebAssembly global to a JSObject without first confirming its runtime type. A user must load attacker-controlled HTML; successful exploitation can execute code within Chrome's renderer sandbox.
