Heap corruption via XSLT text-node use-after-free
Published Aug 3, 2021 · Updated May 5, 2025
Use-after-free in Blink XSLT in Google Chrome before 91.0.4472.164 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory via crafted HTML. During XSLT strip-space processing, xsltApplyTemplates deletes text nodes that remain referenced by variables, keys, or other structures. A user must load the crafted page, and the demonstrated consequence is a renderer crash with underlying exploitable heap corruption.
