Memory disclosure via Tab Groups out-of-bounds read
Published Jun 4, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Google Chrome before 90.0.4430.212 allows attackers to read process memory through a crafted HTML page. The Tab Groups component reads beyond an intended memory boundary while processing the page, but Google has not disclosed the faulty function or check. Exploitation requires convincing a user to install a malicious extension and then process attacker-crafted HTML, exposing out-of-bounds browser memory.
