Privilege escalation in Amazon Kindle E-Reader 5.13.4 and earlier allows local users in the framework context to execute code as root. The framework user can rewrite a command in /var/local/appreg.db, and the root appmgrd service later executes the substituted file. Exploitation requires code already running as the framework user, such as through the documented malicious-PDF chain, and grants unrestricted device control.
