Service interruption via malformed RRC DownlinkPreemption IE
Published Feb 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reachable assertion in Qualcomm Snapdragon modem firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted RRC messages. The modem processes a DownlinkPreemption information element in an RRC Reconfiguration or RRC Setup message without properly validating its size, triggering an assertion. No authentication or user interaction is required; exploitation interrupts modem availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
