Unauthenticated root command execution via file parameter
Published Jan 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in Evolucare ECS Imaging 6.21.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute commands as root via /showfile.php. The endpoint incorporates the untrusted file parameter into an operating-system command without neutralizing shell metacharacters, while IFS expansion supplies argument separators. No authentication is required, and the documented passwordless sudo configuration elevates injected commands from the web-service account to root.
