Access-control bypass via improper VMID permission masking
Published Jan 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper access control in Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets allows local users with low privileges to alter VMID permissions. Core firmware applies an improper permission mask when setting current permissions for virtual machine identifiers, granting access beyond the intended boundary. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and permits compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability across protected execution contexts.
