CVE-2021-30245Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via unchecked external hyperlink schemes

Published Apr 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Code execution in Apache OpenOffice 4.1.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to run code after a user activates a crafted hyperlink. Embedded document hyperlinks pass to ShellExecute or the platform URL opener without sufficient scheme validation, which can launch executables from Internet-accessible shares. Exploitation requires a user to open an untrusted document and activate its non-HTTP(S) link; launched code runs with that user's privileges.
