Authenticated code execution via unchecked plugin upload
Published Apr 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Textpattern 4.8.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through a malicious plugin. The administrative plugin uploader accepts a PHP file without validating its format or contents and stores it at a predictable web-accessible path. Backend access is required; requesting the stored file executes code with the web server account's permissions.
