CVE-2021-30186Network attack vector

Remote service interruption via crafted communication request

Published May 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in the CODESYS V2 runtime communication server before 2.4.7.55 allows remote attackers to crash the controller. CODESYS identifies the communication server as the locus but does not disclose which request field or copy operation overruns the heap buffer. The request is processed when no online password is configured or after controller authentication, and the documented impact is denial of service.
