Administrator access via firmware-embedded credentials
Published Apr 27, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Use of hard-coded credentials in Edimax IC-3140W firmware 3.11 allows remote attackers to gain administrator access and control the camera. The firmware embeds the factory administrator account and password in program code, allowing the credential pair to be recovered by disassembling the image. The attacker needs network access to the camera after extracting the credentials; successful authentication permits privileged control of video, configuration, and device availability.
