CVE-2021-30110Public exploitNetwork attack vector

User-assisted code execution via spoofed update response

Published Jul 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper update authentication in Greyware Domain Time II before 5.2.b.20210331 allows remote attackers to execute code via spoofed UDP replies. When dttray.exe checks for updates, it accepts an unauthenticated plaintext response containing an attacker-controlled URL and passes that URL to ShellExecuteA. The attacker must observe the UDP request and win a response race, and a user must accept the update prompt and run the downloaded executable, which then runs with that user's privileges.
