Process crash via unchecked negative PPS identifier
Published Apr 19, 2021 · Updated Mar 5, 2025
Integer overflow in GPAC 0.5.2 through 1.0.1 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the process via a crafted AVC stream. The gf_avc_read_pps_bs_internal parser checks only whether the signed pps_id is at least 255, then uses a negative value to index the 255-entry avc->pps array and writes through the resulting out-of-bounds pointer. Processing the crafted media is required; the established consequence is a process crash, while the upstream report's arbitrary-address-write claim is not confirmed by the CVE record.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
