Session compromise via unescaped directory email field
Published Sep 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Paessler PRTG Network Monitor before 21.3.69.1333 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in an administrator's browser. The User Accounts page at /systemsetup.htm?tabid=5 inserts an imported Active Directory email value into HTML without escaping it, so script tags execute when the page loads. Exploitation requires control of an Active Directory user email field, a connected directory, and a PRTG user who loads the account list; the script runs within that user's session.
