CVE-2021-29630Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unchecked ggatec response

Published Aug 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in FreeBSD ggatec before 13.0-RELEASE-p4, 12.2-RELEASE-p10, or 11.4-RELEASE-p13 allows remote attackers to execute code. The daemon trusts the response length supplied by ggated and copies that many bytes into a fixed-size stack buffer without checking the destination capacity. Exploitation requires ggatec to be explicitly configured by a superuser and a malicious ggated server or privileged network position, resulting in stack corruption and arbitrary code execution in the daemon.
