Heap buffer overflow via ineffective tensor validation
Published May 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Heap buffer overflow in BandedTriangularSolve in Google TensorFlow allows local users to corrupt heap memory in the calling process. The Eigen kernel accepts empty matrix or right-hand-side tensors, and BandedTriangularSolve continues after ValidateInputTensors records an error because its caller fails to check the operation context status. Execution requires local ability to supply tensors to the raw operation; the demonstrated consequence is an out-of-bounds heap write within the TensorFlow process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
