Heap data read via unchecked sparse splits
Published May 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Google TensorFlow allows local users to access heap data through crafted UnicodeEncode sparse-tensor inputs. UnicodeEncode trusts input_splits as valid boundaries and indexes input_value without checking the first value, final length, ordering, or upper bounds. Calling the local API with a malformed pair is required; the published behavior establishes a memory read but not data modification or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
