CVE-2021-29486Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application hang or crash via nonnumeric input

Published Apr 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Denial of service in DrPaulBrewer cumulative-distribution-function 1.0.3 and earlier allows attackers to hang or crash applications. The returned f(x) evaluator accepts string-valued arrays without numeric type checks and enters a nonterminating loop while evaluating a requested point. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled malformed data to reach a consuming application; the bounded consequence is CPU exhaustion, a hang, or a crash.
