Arbitrary local file disclosure via path traversal
Published Apr 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in Discord-Recon 0.0.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary local files through the .recon command. The recon function in app.py appends an untrusted command argument to the configured recon path without removing ../ sequences, so Path can escape its intended directory. Access to the bot and permission to invoke .recon are required; returned file contents are disclosed through Discord without file modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
