Application crash via PVR out-of-bounds read
Published Sep 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer overflow in IrfanView 4.57 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the application via a crafted PVR file. The FORMATS plug-in ReadPVR_W routine reads beyond a buffer boundary while parsing malformed PVR data. Exploitation requires a user to open the attacker-supplied file; the documented consequence is an application crash, with no reported code execution.
