Application crash via unvalidated intercepted traffic
Published Jul 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper input validation in Emerson GE Automation Proficy Machine Edition 8.0 allows attackers to crash FrameworX.exe via crafted traffic. The fxVPStatcTcp.dll module fails to validate crafted traffic before FrameworX.exe processes it, terminating the application. The attacker must occupy a man-in-the-middle position and induce user interaction; the documented consequence is an application crash only.
