Administrator code execution via path-traversing plugin upload
Published May 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Path traversal in BTCPay Server 1.0.7.0 and earlier allows attackers with administrator access to execute code via a plugin upload. The administrative upload forms fail to validate special path characters in plugin filenames, causing files to be saved outside the restricted directory. Exploitation requires administrator privileges and a crafted plugin file, and successful placement executes code with the server service's authority.
