CVE-2021-29098

Code execution via uninitialized PMF parser pointer

Published Mar 25, 2021 · Updated Apr 10, 2025

Uninitialized-pointer access in Esri ArcGIS and ArcReader raster parsers allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted file. The PMF parser accesses a pointer before initialization while processing crafted PMF data; Esri identifies the broader locus as raster-file processing. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and the resulting code runs in the current process and user context.
