Service hang via unterminated StaticPool tasks
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Denial of service in StaticPool in SUCHMOKUO node-worker-threads-pool 1.4.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to hang its worker pool. StaticPool does not terminate a worker trapped in an expensive or nonterminating task, so enough such tasks occupy every worker and block later work. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-influenced work into StaticPool and user interaction to invoke that path; the Node.js process remains alive while queued tasks stop.
