Stored XSS via unsanitized category title parameter
Published May 17, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Stored XSS in Liferay Portal 7.3.5 and Liferay DXP 7.3 before fix pack 1 allows remote attackers to inject script through a category title. The Asset module's category selector accepts the _com_liferay_asset_categories_admin_web_portlet_AssetCategoriesAdminPortlet_title parameter and renders its unneutralized value as web content. Exploitation requires a victim to view the stored category name, after which attacker-controlled script runs in that user's browser context and can read or alter accessible page data.
