Root SSH access via hard-coded device passphrase
Published Sep 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Hard-coded credentials in BAB TECHNOLOGIE eibPort V3 3.8.3 and earlier allow remote authenticated users to gain root SSH access. During production, each device receives a unique but weak, immutable “eibPort string” as the root SSH key passphrase. Network access, prior high-privilege authentication, user interaction, and the preceding attack-chain steps are required; successful use grants full control of the device.
