Process crash via NULL revision comparison
Published May 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in CESNET libyang 1.0.225 and earlier allows attackers to crash a consuming process via crafted YANG data. The ext_get_plugin function passes a NULL revision argument to strcmp when a candidate extension plug-in has a revision, instead of checking both values before comparison. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse attacker-controlled YANG input that reaches extension-plug-in lookup; the reported consequence is process termination only.
