CVE-2021-28824

Local privilege escalation via writable installation files

Published Mar 23, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Local privilege escalation in TIBCO ActiveSpaces - Enterprise Edition 4.5.0 and earlier allows local users to execute software with elevated privileges. The Windows installation component leaves certain files or folders without access restrictions, allowing a low-privileged local user to insert malicious software that the component later executes. Exploitation requires local access to a Windows installation and can grant the component's elevated operating-system privileges, with confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
