CVE-2021-28823

Local privilege escalation via weak installation permissions

Published Mar 23, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Incorrect authorization in TIBCO eFTL 6.5.0 and earlier allows local users to gain elevated privileges through its Windows installation. The Windows Installation component applies insufficient access restrictions to undisclosed files or folders, allowing malicious software placed there to run with the component's elevated privileges. A low-privileged local account and an affected Windows installation are required; successful exploitation can grant full operating-system access at the component's privilege level.
