Local privilege escalation via writable installation files
Published Mar 23, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Improper access control in TIBCO FTL 6.5.0 and earlier allows local users to insert software through Windows installation files and execute it with elevated privileges. The Windows Installation component leaves certain installation files or folders insufficiently restricted, allowing malicious software insertion that the component then runs with its elevated privileges. Exploitation requires low privileges and local access to an affected Windows installation; the resulting access can extend to the operating-system privilege level of the component.
