CVE-2021-28817

Local privilege escalation via insecure installation permissions

Published Mar 23, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Privilege escalation in TIBCO Rendezvous and Developer Edition 8.5.1 and earlier allows local users to gain elevated Windows privileges. The Windows installer leaves certain installed files or folders without sufficient access restrictions, letting a low-privileged user insert software that an elevated component later executes. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access on an affected Windows host and can yield the affected component's privileges, including full operating-system access.
