Privileged data disclosure via omitted permission checker
Published Oct 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Silverstripe GraphQL Server 3.0.0 through 3.5.1 allows remote authenticated users to read privileged data. The Read and ReadOne GraphQL 3 subclasses fail to inherit a permissionChecker service, so canView() is not applied to returned data. A CMS account with restricted permissions can query /admin/graphql and disclose Member IDs, first names, and surnames on a default installation.
