Client impersonation via faulty Secure Enclave detection
Published Mar 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Insecure key storage in Western Digital ArmorLock apps before 1.4.1 allows local users to extract client private keys from Keychain. A logic error treats Secure Enclave devices without biometric hardware as lacking the enclave, so keys are generated, stored, and used in the software-backed Keychain. Exploitation requires code execution as the device user on that hardware combination and exposes keys that permit client impersonation.
