Cross-origin file upload via missing Origin validation
Published Mar 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Vesta Control Panel through 0.9.8-27 allows remote attackers to upload files via cross-origin requests. The web/upload/UploadHandler.php endpoint accepted upload requests without validating the HTTP Origin header, allowing a different-origin page to submit the operation. Exploitation requires a victim browser context that can reach the panel; uploaded content can alter hosted files and potentially affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
