CVE-2021-28208Network attack vector

Authenticated file disclosure via unfiltered video path

Published Apr 6, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Path traversal in ASUS BMC firmware allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to read system files via video retrieval. The Web management page's Get video file function fails to filter special characters from a file-path parameter before retrieving the requested file. Administrator privileges are required, and the documented impact is limited to reading files accessible to the BMC service.
