Web service termination via unchecked input length
Published Apr 6, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Buffer overflow in ASUS BMC firmware web management allows remote authenticated users to terminate the web service via oversized input. The Service configuration-1 function accepts a user-supplied string without checking its length, overflowing a fixed-size buffer. High-privilege BMC web access is required, and the documented consequence is termination of that web service.
