CVE-2021-28181Network attack vector

Authenticated Web service termination via unchecked string length

Published Apr 6, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Buffer overflow in ASUS ASMB8-iKVM Firmware 1.14.2 and 1.14.51 allows remote authenticated users to terminate Web service remotely. The Remote video configuration setting accepts user-controlled strings without length validation, overflowing a buffer in the BMC Web-management handler. Privileged access to the management interface is required, and the demonstrated consequence is interruption of the Web service rather than data disclosure or modification.
