Privilege escalation via unchecked team group assignment
Published Mar 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect access control in Grafana Enterprise 6.x before 6.7.6, 7.x before 7.3.10, and 7.4.x before 7.4.5 allows privilege escalation. The team sync HTTP API accepts an authenticated user's request to attach external groups to any existing team without enforcing its intended authorization boundary. Exploitation requires an external authentication service and EditorsCanAdmin enabled, and it grants unintended team permissions to the user's linked external group.
