Memory disclosure via uninitialized Tape buffer
Published Mar 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Memory exposure in the truetype crate before 0.30.1 allows remote attackers to read uninitialized process memory through a supplied Read operation. Tape::take_bytes creates an uninitialized buffer and passes it to a caller-supplied Read instance, allowing that implementation to inspect stale bytes. Exposure requires application code to invoke the method with attacker-controlled Read behavior; published evidence limits the security impact to process-memory disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
