Database query manipulation via unvalidated group IDs
Published Mar 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
SQL injection in MyBB before 1.8.26 allows remote authenticated users to execute SQL through crafted Additional User Groups IDs. The Admin Control Panel joins submitted Additional User Groups values into a comma-separated field without coercing each entry to an integer, and later code incorporates the stored values into SQL queries without escaping. High-privileged Admin Control Panel access is required, and injected statements run with the forum database account's permissions.
