CVE-2021-27942Public exploit

Root code execution via USB web-root exposure

Published Aug 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Code execution in Vizio P65-F1 6.0.31.4-2 and E50x-E1 10.0.31.4-2 Smart TVs allows attackers to run code from a USB drive. SmartCast exposes the USB mount beneath its internal web root, allowing a cast request to invoke a malicious CGI file that launches a native payload. Physical USB insertion plus local-network access to issue the cast request yields root command execution on the television.
